As someone who has worked in union organization for more than two decades, it is only natural that issues related to workers’ pay, benefits, and conditions would be central to my priorities as a Will County Board member. This area has a rich history (and present-day expression) of organized labor improving families’ lives and creating lasting monuments to our history and our future. I also recognize that as a steward of the county’s resources, I must remain vigilant in carefully contracting and managing the spending on our special projects and ongoing services. Beyond my union experience, I have come to know workers and their issues as an employer running a small business, knowing that people get what they pay for. Additionally, I have been fortunate to have learned from those of you who have met with and reached out to me about your issues as employees and employers and consumers so that we can work together to strike the best balance of wages and benefits, goods and services, and community growth for all.
